Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff Lisa Murphy was honored at the 2024 Women of Influence Awards Luncheon hosted by Portland Business Journal. Murphy was one of 30 women recognized for not only forging her own path but also lifting up other women along the way. Murphy's longtime colleague, Peggy Maguire, president of the Cambia Health Foundation and a 2014 Woman of Influence, introduced her at the event.
Murphy is a member of Cambia's senior leadership team and a strategic adviser to the company's president and CEO, Jared Short, who was named one of the Portland Business Journal's 2023 Executives of the Year. Murphy oversees the implementation of Cambia's long-term strategies and annual objectives. With nearly 30 years in health care and law, including more than 20 years at Cambia, Murphy uses her experience, industry knowledge and relationship-building skills to bring people together and get things done.
Murphy gets things done outside of Cambia, too. In 2023, Murphy was named “Visionary of the Year” by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Portland chapter for leading a team of colleagues and friends called “Murphy’s Mission Possible.” The team raised a record-breaking amount in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s fight against blood cancers.
As a mentor, Murphy has worked with numerous women leaders at Cambia, supporting their professional development. She advocates for talented women to stay at Cambia by connecting them to opportunities that will allow them to advance and grow. When asked what she would send as text to her younger self, Murphy said, “Make sure that the people you encounter always feel seen, acknowledged and valued, and stay in touch with people as you go through life.”
