This post is part two of our three-part “Consumer on the Street” video series, where we traveled the Western United States and Canada to ask people for their honest health care opinions and experiences. Check out part one.
We asked people about current innovations in health care that make their lives easier and improve their care. People responded with a variety of answers, ranging from online tools and technologies, to provider relationships, to coordinated and value-based care.
Here are some of the highlights:
Health Care Anytime, Anywhere
“Usually with the health care provider we have, if we have an issue, we call them and they set up a time and schedule. And usually they come right to the ranch, which is really helpful. They’ll meet us any time of day or night, seven days a week.”
“I’m a dialysis patient, and they’ve come a long way…I can actually do my dialysis at home if I wish.”
“My doctors text me and call me on my phone, which is fantastic.”
Providing Value
“They’re keeping track of the technology, they’re doing what they can do keep evolving their service. And that makes me feel good, like I’m getting value for my money.”
“The doctor’s office I go to has a new program where they pay the doctor a lump sum to take care of you for the whole year. So then he’s incentivized to take care of you quickly, efficiently, to multitask, to talk to you about all of your global health needs.”
Digital Solutions
“I find that the insurance company that I have makes it a little easier. They have a website that helps you find a provider and filter through what’s provided by the insurance.”
“When it comes to booking appointments to see our family doctors, everything is online. It’s efficient—we can do it through our phones or mobile apps. It just makes it much more convenient and easy. Especially in today’s world, everything’s moving quickly.”
