Cambia’s Asian and Pacific Islanders Rallying for Equality Employee Resource Group (ASPIRE ERG) connects colleagues across Cambia who wouldn’t otherwise meet because they work in different departments, live in different states or work from home. In addition to monthly meetings, the group celebrates special occasions such as Diwali and Lunar New Year. During this Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we asked a few ASPIRE members to share their experiences as part of the ERG in recognition of their contributions to Cambia.
Elisha Kostka, membership administrator
I recently joined ASPIRE to connect with colleagues on a more personal level as well as professionally. It can be hard connecting with coworkers since I work from home, so the meetings are always fun getting to know my Asian and Pacific Islander community here at Cambia. I really enjoy the discussions on the different holidays for different cultures and the importance of these celebrations. Lastly, being part of ASPIRE gives me a sense of comfort and community here at Cambia knowing there are other colleagues that come from similar backgrounds.
Katelyn Richardson-Marks, compliance analyst
My time in ASPIRE has been positive. Everyone is really nice, supportive and always looking for activities to be inclusive – which can be a challenge when most folks work remotely. I think folks like ERGs because they show an active interest and investment in employee equity and experiences, as well as a different way to connect with fellow colleagues who people may never encounter or work with. ASPIRE, specifically, adds to my experience working at Cambia because I really value working somewhere that has a DEI focus and is welcoming to all types of people.
Romita Sekar, financial analyst
My time has been very enriching thus far. I really appreciate ASPIRE for providing a safe and supportive environment where individuals can share their experiences and stories. It's fantastic that it fosters understanding and appreciation for the diverse backgrounds within the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, highlighting that even within the same racial and ethnic group, there’s a richness of languages, customs and practices to learn from and celebrate. I have had a great experience being a part of ASPIRE as it has helped me in networking and knowing more about Cambia than just the team I work for.
Lindsay Harris, senior vice president and chief commercial officer, and executive sponsor of ASPIRE ERG
I serve as the executive sponsor for ASPIRE because I believe in fostering a workplace culture that celebrates diversity, inclusion and equity. By championing the voices and experiences of our AAPI colleagues, we can create a more supportive environment for all our staff, driving innovation and success through diverse perspectives.
