Cambia’s Seattle-based innovation hub, Cambia Grove, was chosen as one of a handful of organizations across the country to host Startup Day Seattle, an event designed to convene entrepreneurs, health care leaders, and federal agency representatives from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and in collaboration with HHS Idea Lab, an organization within the Office of the Chief Technology Officer that encourages and enables innovation at HHS.
Startup Day Seattle showcased three innovative health care initiatives, including new ways to deliver a better consumer experience for Medicare members, a campaign to improve data access and interoperability for entrepreneurs and a new way for patients to manage chronic health conditions.
1. CMS Blue Button 2.0 demonstration from Cambia
Meg Dryer, Cambia Vice President of Consumer Experience, shared an innovative approach to using Blue Button 2.0 a new tool from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to give people access to their health care information and help trusted applications, services and research programs learn more from Medicare claims data.
2. Cambia Grove's Data Resource Crowdsource Campaign
Cambia Grove announced the launch of a crowdsourcing campaign to populate a new Data Resource Directory that will be available this fall on cambiagrove.com. The directory will connect entrepreneurs with the health care data they need to build scalable, consumer-centric solutions.
3. Gaming, the new health tech frontier
The winner of the inaugural Cambia Grove TRAILS Competition featured an innovative approach to managing chronic health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, and stress through video games.
In alignment with Cambia Grove’s goal of convening innovators and catalyzing the development of tomorrow’s health care solutions, Startup Day Seattle illustrated the value of opening doors to small teams and entrepreneurs, in creating a more person-centric, economically sustainable health care system.
