Word arrived at 6:09 a.m. Pacific Time: Cambia Health Solutions landed at #18 among the 100 Healthiest Employers in America. The announcement came via our wellness program coordinator, who attended the annual Corporate Wellness Conference ® in Orlando a couple of weeks ago. What a great way to start our day!
The H100, as it’s called, is a rigorous review that inquires about employee population health, medication compliance, health plan costs and wellness program costs. They want to know if employers are helping workers be healthy and stay healthy, and whether we are measuring progress toward a healthier workplace.
Cambia has been dedicated to employee health for over a decade. Our Wellpower program integrates all areas that affect worker health and productivity— from on-site staffed fitness centers to financial health and well-being seminars. We look at everything, from the food in the vending machines and what it costs, or what’s served at parties; the layout of the workplace; how and where meetings are held; what benefits are provided; what is incentivized; and how supportive our company culture is overall. It calls for creating a culture of health—a top-to-bottom approach that changes behavior, measures more than numbers and drives a positive value on investment.
A big driver behind our success is the work our leaders do to create that culture of health. They appreciate the positive ROI, but our executives also lead from the front, whether that’s standing or walking work stations or guiding an exercise class. Workers know they have management support for healthy activities at work. And our creative wellness team does an excellent job keeping our program fresh by focusing on what is highly valued by employees. Putting employees at the center is key to our Wellpower philosophy.
It’s great to have the Cambia brand recognized nationally as a healthy employer. But even without the recognition, we would do this purely because it’s the right thing to do. When people feel better, physically and emotionally, they are more engaged, motivated and productive at home and at work. And ultimately, healthy employees mean a healthy company.
