The world’s greatest woman golfers came together and competed Aug. 31–Sept. 3 during the 46th year of the Portland Classic, one of the longest-running tournaments on the LPGA tour. For the fourth year, Cambia was the title sponsor of the tournament that has raised $18 million for local charities.
This year’s winner was Stacy Lewis, a Houston native who donated her $195,000 earnings to the Hurricane Harvey Houston relief effort. Two of her sponsors also contributed to the donation, with KPMG matching her donation and Marathon Oil adding $1 million to the donation.
“Honestly, I think that’s what helped me through the week, just knowing people wanted me to do well,” said Stacy in an interview. “People wanted me to win this for Houston.”
Cambia, together with the LPGA, also announced a portion of ticket sales from the event would be donated to Houston.
