Over two thirds of US adults are overweight or obese* and according to Circadian's Shiftwork Practices Study, unscheduled absenteeism due to poor health is costing employers $3600 per hourly employee, per year and $2,650 per salaried employee, per year. To help employers get their staff motivated for better health, the Greater Pocatello Chamber of Commerce and Portneuf Health Care Foundation is offering local employers a new tool, called Hubbub Health, to get their employees eating well, stressing less, and moving more.
"This partnership reflects our commitment to the overall good health of our communities, and to providing local businesses with the tools and resources they need to keep their employees healthy," said Shaun Menchaca, President and CEO of the Portneuf Healthcare Foundation. "I have used the Hubbub product for the last six months, and I have seen noticeable differences in my eating habits and fitness levels. I couldn't think of a better tool to share with Pocatello businesses to help curb the cost of employee absenteeism and improve health care costs."
Hubbub Health is a social wellness platform that enables participants to start or join health-related challenges designed to motivate them to improve their overall health and well-being. Some challenges are as simple as drinking more water each day and run all the way up to training for marathons. Participants can even challenge each other to volunteer in their communities.
As a benefit of membership, The Greater Pocatello Chamber of Commerce is offering Hubbub Health free of charge to all members of the chamber. Chamber members simply need to call the chamber at (208) 233-1525 or email Matt Hunter at mhunter@pocatelloidaho.com to request an appointment with our Wellness Coordinator and sign up.
Employers who choose to join Hubbub Health for their employees have full access to the Hubbub platform including health challenges, health coaching, incentives and real-time data analytics and reporting.
"The Greater Pocatello Chamber of Commerce believes that this partnership will only enhance the benefit to employers in our community," said Matthew Hunter, President and CEO of the Greater Pocatello Chamber of Commerce. "We are particularly excited that we can offer individualized personal health coaching which will be available to employers that offer Hubbub to their employees."
Hubbub boasts great success with individuals seeking to improve their health, and is currently expanding nationwide. To give Hubbub a try, visit www.HubbubHealth.com or download the Hubbub app at the iTunes App store. While individual membership is available for free to the public, enhanced benefits, such as personalized health coaching, enhanced access to rewards, employer reporting, incentive engine, consultant, marketing materials and automated challenge must be purchased.
