PORTLAND, Ore – Cambia Health Solutions recently received a pair of national honors awarded for achievements in workplace wellness. The Portland, Oregon-based organization was named a Fit-Friendly Worksite at the platinum level for the sixth consecutive year by the American Heart Association. Cambia was also named one of the Top 100 Healthiest Workplaces in America by Healthiest Employers, a leader in employee health analytics.

In addition to the aforementioned honors, Cambia also earned a Worksite Innovation Award from the American Heart Association for its Remote Worker Boot Camp. This virtual exercise class includes six live, streaming 20-minute boot camp sessions over the course of three weeks. The pilot class, held in December 2012, saw 112 employees registered with anywhere from 70 to 90 participating in each class, and was followed by three more sessions in 2013.
Cambia is a strong proponent of wellness not only for the impact that it has on employee health, but also for the value it provides to an employer’s bottom line. A five-year study of Cambia’s program found that wellness yielded a $1.78 return on investment for every dollar spent. Savings included $9.2 million in reduced medical and disability costs, a 26% reduction in disability claims, and 3.05 fewer hours in unplanned absences. Other studies, including one from Harvard University, have pegged ROI at $3.27 or more in reduced medical costs for every dollar spent.
