In honor of Pride Month, we’re celebrating the ways Cambia’s Professionals Respecting Individuality, Diversity & Equality Employee Resource Group (PRIDE ERG) contributes to our communities.
This year, PRIDE ERG is coordinating volunteer opportunities at local Pride Month events. At Seattle Pride, volunteers will work at a sponsored booth representing one of our regional health plans. In Portland, volunteers will march in the Portland Pride parade. Volunteers can increase the impact of their time through Cambia Health Foundation’s Dollars for Doers program, which allows employees to direct $20 to a nonprofit of their choice for every volunteer hour they track.
Cambia Health Foundation also gives PRIDE ERG and the other six employee resource groups at Cambia the opportunity to nominate nonprofit organizations to receive Foundation funding. Last year, PRIDE ERG members nominated the following organizations to receive $1,750 each:
- Q Center is the largest LGBTQ+ community center in the Pacific Northwest providing safe spaces, community building and empowerment for the LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.
- Rainbow Center Tacoma expands resources and safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ community in the Tacoma area through education, advocacy and celebration.
- The OUT Foundation works to collect, preserve and celebrate the queer culture of Brigham Young University in Utah.
- Transgender Law Center is the largest national trans-led organization advocating for a world in which all people are free to define themselves and their futures.
Nicole Leaper, learning experience designer, nominated the Transgender Law Center.
“As a PRIDE ERG member, I was happy to nominate Transgender Law Center, which in their own words is ‘the largest national trans-led organization advocating for a world in which all people are free to define themselves and their futures,’” Leaper said. “It means a lot to me and my family that Cambia supports LGBTQ+ organizations with community support funds, and I appreciate that this important organization advocating for safety and justice was chosen by PRIDE ERG members for support.”
PRIDE ERG members are in the process of nominating organizations for this year’s community support funds.
